social project

For each product purchased, 1 day of school is financed for a child in Peru thanks to our partnership with the Los Chicos de Cusco association. So far, we have donated more than €80,000 to the association, which represents one school year for 400 children. And that's just the beginning !

The observation

In Peru, about half of the women and more than a quarter of the men are illiterate. If school is free and compulsory, tuition fees are too high for part of the Peruvian population. Due to a lack of resources, children are often forced to leave school early to work. It is on the basis of this observation that Hide and David Quispe, two Peruvian teachers, decided in 2006 to found "Asvin", an educational center where they themselves would provide free lessons to children.

The association

In 2007, Frenchman Jean-Gabriel Cabot discovered "Asvin" and its founders. He is so enthusiastic about this educational project that he decides to create an association to support it financially and humanely: Los Chicos de Cusco. Since then, the association has been able to grow to support not one, but five now independent establishments: Asvin, Anccoccala, Mayubamba, Pacramayo and Punacancha. Currently, Los Chicos de Cusco supports two educational structures: Huchuy Yachaq and Picol.

Missions

In addition to the salaries of the teachers, the association pays for the purchase of school uniforms and materials, the distribution of meals to the pupils, as well as the construction and maintenance of the premises. It also involves the parents of pupils in the life of the school by organizing workshops or via the personalized follow-up of certain families. This global support allows local actors (teachers, parents and children) to strengthen their skills and guide them towards total autonomy.

Perus x Los Chicos de Cusco

Our donation to the association amounts to €1 per product sold, i.e. more than 20% of our profits. It helps finance teachers' salaries, school supplies and textbooks as well as the purchase of uniforms. With approximately 200 school days in a school year, since our launch in December 2014, we have donated over €80,000 to Los Chicos de Cusco. That's a school year for more than 400 children!

After that ?

We will continue to support the association as long as possible so that it can accompany other establishments in Peru. We sincerely hope that our partnership will change the future prospects of more and more young people and their families! Every year, many villages ask Los Chicos de Cusco to intervene in their schools. For this, they need to find funds. If you wish, it is possible to make a donation directly on the association's website or even to join the project as a volunteer!
