Second skin

A natural fiber sweater soft like an alpaca.

An exceptional yarn...

The term “Baby Alpaca” designates the wool made up of the finest fibers, which are found in particular on the chest of the animal. We have selected this extremely rare wool for its exceptional properties: warm (obviously) it is also incredibly soft, breathable, very strong and, unlike sheep's wool... hypoallergenic! No risk of allergy or scratching.

... at a low price!

We have been working directly with our partner craftsmen since our beginnings. This allows us to always offer you quality parts at affordable and fair prices.

A well-kept secret

The alpaca lives in the high plateaus of the Andes, at around 4000 meters above sea level. Strong winds blow there and temperatures can sometimes drop below -20°C! Its secret to resisting these temperature variations? Its very soft and breathable wool which insulates from the cold in winter, without suffocating it when the mild season arrives.

Born to be free!

Animal welfare is one of our priorities. The wool we use comes from farms where the alpacas live in a semi-wild state: they are only in contact with humans when they are sheared (i.e. once a year). The rest of the time, they take advantage of the great Andean spaces!

Too hot to handle

Unlike llamas, alpacas do not molt or lose their hair. Its mowing is therefore essential for its comfort and well-being, especially as summer approaches. Nothing like a little spring cut to start the season on the right foot, right?

Homemade

Our meshes are made by the Limbert team in La Paz, Bolivia. These artisans work on their own in their family workshops and are paid 2 to 3 times the Bolivian minimum wage.

Care

Alpaca is an extremely breathable material. You don't need to wash it often! We recommend that you wash your sweater by hand in cold water with a mild or specific product for wool.

Social Project

Since our beginnings, we have been collaborating with the association Los Chicos de Cusco, which humanly and financially supports several educational establishments in the suburbs of Cusco. For each product sold, 1€ is donated to the association, i.e. more than 20% of our profits. This donation helps finance a school day for a child in Peru!

Pre-ordering, more responsible

because it makes it possible to produce the right number of parts in order to limit overproduction. This involves waiting a little before receiving your order. To thank you for your patience, we offer our products at advantageous prices at the time of the launches. Pre-ordering means getting a durable piece, made for you!

Our history

Perus was born in 2014 from a trip to South America and a desire to offer sustainable, ethical and committed fashion. We develop our products so that they accompany you everywhere and for a long time. For this, we select our materials with care, as do our partner craftsmen. Each of our employees is paid fairly and works in good conditions.
